1,000 custom-made face shields were delivered yesterday to staff at Calderdale Council, who are now distributing them to be used by social care workers across the district. The shields have been made by Thomas Dudley Limited on a not for profit basis, as part of their support for the NHS and key workers.

This builds on our previous donation of some of our own PPE to Calderdale Royal Hospital to support the COVID-19 response, as well as donating 100 tonnes of screed for the Manchester Nightingale Hospital.

Martyn Coffey, CEO of Marshalls plc, said:
“We’re really pleased to be able to support our local key workers and help them to stay safe during this time.”

Cllr Tim Swift, Calderdale Council’s Leader, said:
“A real team effort is ensuring that frontline staff and residents in Calderdale are getting the essential protection they need. For this we give many thanks – to the care workers looking after people; to staff taking on different roles to distribute PPE; to those supporting our care providers and assessing PPE stocks daily; to the local businesses helping to boost supplies.”

Like Marshalls, Thomas Dudley are members of the Made in Britain network. Martin Dudley - Chairman said:
”As a UK manufacturer that is proudly celebrating our 100th year in business, we are passionate about serving the community. We had the people and resources to start manufacturing the face shields playing our part in fighting Covid-19. We have been delighted to support our customer Marshalls to provide this PPE into Calderdale Council."
