Marshalls has been announced as winner in the category of ‘best promotional partnership’ at the National Payroll Giving Awards 2007. Neil Davidson, Marshalls’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Manager was presented with the award by the Right Honourable Jane Kennedy MP, Financial Secretary to the Treasury at a prestigious event hosted at HM Treasury on 17th October. The event was introduced and compered by broadcaster and ‘money saving expert’ Martin Lewis.
First launched in 1987, Payroll Giving enables employees to donate to any UK charity straight from their gross salary, giving immediate tax relief. Latest figures show that this year Payroll Giving has distributed almost £90 million to good causes.
The Payroll Giving Awards are designed to showcase the best Payroll Giving schemes from employers in the UK. All applications are marked against specific criteria by a panel of impartial judges; entries are restricted to those employers that have received 2007 Bronze, Silver or Gold Quality Mark Awards.
Marshalls promoted Payroll Giving to staff in partnership with Hands on Helping Charity. The relationship resulted in impressive evidence of teamwork and collaboration between the organizations, achieving 13% take-up amongst staff – a very high achievement particularly considering the spread of the organization across the whole of the UK.
Commentating on the Award, Neil Davidson, Marshalls CSR Manager, said:
“We are delighted to have received this award with our partners Hands on Helping Charity. Both ourselves and the Charity have worked exhaustively in increasing the awareness of the scheme and meet the challenges of Marshalls’ diversity of sites and shifts.”
