Marshalls plc can confirm that it has recently concluded negotiations to purchase the Gwrhyd Specialist Stone business based in South Wales for an undisclosed sum to add to its portfolio of quarrying activities in the UK.
The acquisition will allow Marshalls to extract blockstone for paving and walling products and will expand the range of stone types that the Group offers to the Public Sector and Commercial markets in addition to the business’ existing route to the Domestic market.
Rory Kendrick, Managing Director of Marshalls Natural Stone Paving Division
“We are delighted to announce the purchase of Gwrhyd Specialist Stone which contains a high quality reserve of Pennant Sandstone. This presents us with an excellent commercial opportunity by allowing us to combine our expertise in processing natural stone with a superb local material. Over the forthcoming months we will endeavour to increase production rates and the range of available products to both the Commercial and Domestic markets.”
The quarry, which was established in 1999, is embedded in the beautiful hillside in the Upper Swansea Valley and provides a natural product of exceptional quality and durability. Pennant Sandstone has non-slip resistance properties and has a beauty which intensifies with age.
