Marshalls Announces Winner Of Smart Car Competition!
Fresh from the success of GLEE 2007, the UK’s largest annual garden and leisure event, Marshalls is pleased to announce the winner of its Smart Car competition. Ms Andy Leopold, from CG Edward Ltd in Hertfordshire, is now the proud owner of a brand new Smart Fortwo Coupe having achieved the fastest time round the copper wire challenge on Marshalls’ exhibition stand at GLEE.
Entrants to the challenge had to manoeuvre a metal wand round an electrically charged wire in the fastest time possible – without touching the wire and setting off the buzzer! Of the many challengers, Ms Leopold managed by far the fastest time, clocking in at 1 minute and 39.72 seconds.
Marshalls will present the lucky winner with her prize at Landscape House, Elland at 12.00 am on Wednesday 3rd October, where she will be driving off with the latest design in eco-friendly motoring. The Smart Fortwo boasts some of the lowest C02 emissions at only 116 grams per kilometre driven, making it the perfect partner for Marshalls’ stance on sustainability.
Marshalls was the first company in the hard landscaping industry to voice concerns and take positive action to tackle issues of sustainability, and it continues to lead the industry in this area with some of their driveway products using up to 39% less carbon in its production than standard block paving.
Following the launch earlier this year of the Carbon Calculator, an online tool which allows customers to work out the environmental impact of their gardening projects, Marshalls is also working with the Carbon Trust on carbon labelling its domestic products. This innovative stance on environmental issues allows gardeners, designers and builders alike to be informed about the products they are buying.
The carbon calculator can be found on the Marshalls for Sustainable Landscapes website, which contains detailed information about the all aspects of this large-scale sustainability programme. Visit www.marshalls.co.uk/sustainability for more information.
