Marshalls plc’s new extended range of Priora permeable paving has already ‘hit the streets’. Launched in April of this year, the new Priora range has been well received by the industry and has already been used on numerous projects throughout the UK.
The new innovative range, comprising of Tegula Priora, Mistral Priora and Olde Priora, was launched by Marshalls in response to architects needs for aesthetics solutions, as well as performance, for projects requiring sustainable urban drainage.
Alistair Hoyes, Marshalls Product Manager, explains:
“Priora is a well established brand in the permeable paving market. The extended Priora family unites the concept of Priora permeable paving with some of Marshalls' most established value-added block paving products. By doing so it now provides the designer and specifier with a greater aesthetic choice to fit individual scheme requirements, whilst answering environmental issues.”
Commendation of the new range could not have come with a greater testimony. In June, Mistral Priora was used by contractors Osborne at The Osborne Demonstration House at the BRE Innovation Park. The house was developed by the company to set out to prove that it is possible to build affordable, sustainable homes that incorporate the latest thinking on energy efficiency, waste reduction and modern methods of construction.
Marshalls new Mistral Priora played a key part in this ethos, as it is not only the house but the hard landscaping on the scheme which should be considered in sustainable construction.
Alistair Hoyes comments again:
“The frequency and intensity of flooding in the UK is on the increase and long-range weather forecasts indicate this will continue. This requires planners to consider ‘innovative’ solutions to drainage rather than relying on traditional methods.
“Marshalls’ new extended Priora range complies with PPG25 and offers planners and developers effective solutions supported now by a broad palette of new aesthetic possibilities.”
The Priora range is manufactured with a patented nibs design. The interlocking nibs create the void, which enables high volumes of surface water to drain naturally at source though the open graded sub base. Through a natural biological reaction contaminants in the water are broken down or trapped in this process. The nib interlock also often negates the need for intermediate edge restraints, simplifying design and construction.
To ease the design of permeable pavements and linear drainage, Marshalls offer a free, no obligation water management design service, which provides optimised and engineered solutions for SUDs and non-SUDs type applications. Extended Priora Product Range Details:
Responding to market demands, Tegula Priora, will now fulfil the solution for a traditional looking permeable sett paving solution, whilst still offering the aesthetics reminiscent of sandstone setts found all over the country. Initially it will be available in 160 gauge in small, medium and large elements, with a thickness of 80mm in a range of five colours.
This aesthetically modern Mistral Priora sett with its beautifully exposed granite aggregates will now inspire customers who want ‘the contemporary feel’, but with all the properties of a permeable paver. Available in 80mm thickness in small, medium and large elements of Mistral’s 160mm gauge this new product unities environmental benefits with cutting edge looks.
Utilising the latest rusticating technology, Olde Priora will add a new dimension to the established Priora concrete block paving (CBP) range. Carrying all the inherent benefits of Priora this new concrete block paver will be well suited for use in conservation areas, but is specifically designed to create new market opportunities where a Sustainable Urban Drainage system (SUDs) is required for a scheme.
