MOT Type 3

Our MOT Type 3 Open Graded Sub Base (SHW Clause 805) is a high quality aggregate designed for free draining sub base construction. While MOT Type 3 remains the widely recognised industry term, SHW Clause 805 is the current specification standard, ensuring consistent performance and compliance for permeable applications.

Produced through controlled crushing and screening, this material is supplied in open graded formats typically ranging from 40mm–4mm, with a controlled absence of fines to promote high permeability and effective drainage while maintaining structural stability. This makes it suitable for applications where water management is critical, including permeable paving systems, Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS), footpaths, cycleways, sports surfaces, equestrian arenas, and general open graded sub base layers.

This product is manufactured using gritstone from our Howley Park Quarry and limestone from our Stainton Quarry, providing durable, high performance material while supporting regional supply chains and reducing environmental impact.

Available for collection or delivery within a 50-mile radius of our Howley Park and Stainton quarries.
