MOT Type 1

Our MOT Type 1 (SHW Clause 803) Sub Base is a high quality, well graded granular aggregate produced at our Stainton Limestone Quarry and Fletcher Bank Gritstone Quarry. Manufactured through controlled crushing and screening, it meets the requirements of SHW Clause 803, which has superseded the traditional MOT Type 1 classification for highway works, while remaining a widely recognised industry term.

Supplied in 40mm–0mm and 40mm–4mm gradings, this material offers excellent workability, reliable compaction, and strong load bearing performance, making it a stable and durable foundation layer for a wide range of construction and civil engineering applications. When specified to SHW 803, it is suitable for use in roads and highways, as well as driveways, footpaths, car parks, paved foundations, and general sub base preparation.

Available for collection or delivery within a 50-mile radius of our Stainton and Fletcher Bank quarries.
