A retaining wall was required alongside the existing highway, which needed to be built overnight to reduce the disruption to road users

Redi-rock walling was installed to the requirement of a 270mt long x 2.15mt high retaining wall along the a50 in Stoke on Trent.

The base row comprised mainly of the larger 150 series gravity wall bocks, with subsequent courses made up of the 104 and 71 series gravity blocks.

To reduce disruption to the local road users, the majority of the wall was constructed during 5-hour night shifts., with the entire 270mt long bottom course was built in just 5-night shifts (25hours)

The bottom course is the slowest part of the process with the other courses were built during night shifts with 120 blocks installed during each 5-hour shift (64m2)
