Background

Packington Hall is a unique development of luxury homes and apartments overlooking beautiful open countryside and minutes from the Cathedral city of Lichfield.

Steeped in history, the Grade II listed hall has been lovingly restored and converted into six luxury apartments, each individually designed and offering an extraordinary blend of period charm and contemporary chic.

Surrounded by breathtaking views, 22 new homes have been built within the grounds, consisting of traditional mews houses, modern coach houses with private rear gardens and two detached residences.

Hard landscaping in a conservation area

Blue Marble approached their local Travis Perkins about Packington Hall, and due to our close relationship with the branch, they contacted our sales team.The site is in a conservation area, which limits some material and design choices. However, Blue Marble had a clear vision for each property to have an access road, driveway and patio area, to meet the high standards that prospective customers would expect from a premium development.

Material choice for a premium finish

Due to the restrictions on colour within the conservation order, off-white and grey materials were chosen for the hard landscaping. The quality and finish of the exterior needed to match the standard of the interior, so the client selected the products from our premium ranges.

Our flagship Modal permeable paving was chosen for the roads into and around the development; we made the blocks in a bespoke grey to meet the conservation order’s high standards and add a clean,contemporary look. Drivesett Argent was the perfect choice for the driveways to achieve a premium granite look but with the price tag of a quality concrete material. And, to maintain the luxury finish in the garden, grey porcelain was selected for the patio areas. Porcelain was chosen for its aesthetic and low-maintenance properties, which could be a selling point for potential buyers.

Benefits of a single supplier

With a significant development such as this, there is merit in reducing the number of different suppliers. By working with Marshalls on the hard landscaping, Blue Marble benefitted from a single point of contact for all their needs, and we were able to reduce the number of site deliveries.
