Our history

Our story began in the 1890s, when Solomon Marshall started supplying stone from the heart of Yorkshire. Since then, we’ve grown into a group of businesses that support almost every part of the built environment.

Over the decades, our teams have supported customers with innovation and service - bringing concrete block paving to the UK, developing award-winning roofing systems and pioneering roof-integrated solar technology. Today, we continue to push forward with lower-carbon bricks, advanced drainage systems and sustainable landscaping solutions.

As the needs of our customers and our country have evolved, so have we. In 2025, we made the strategic decision to exit the UK natural stone industry for landscaping, honouring our heritage while focusing on future-ready, consistent solutions that offer customers clarity and performance.
