1. We are proud of our Yorkshire heritage!
Our founder Solomon Marshall (1847-1914) lived in Brighouse with his wife and nine Children. In 1904 he established S.Marshalls & Sons and his first purchase of land at Southowram is still used by Marshalls today!
2. Streets of London
They say the streets of London are paved with gold: it’s actually paved with Marshalls striking product!
In fact, we have paved every square on the Monopoly board.
3. Around the world from Eaglescliffe
Our site in Eaglescliffe, County Durham makes enough block paving in one year to orbit the world 41 times!
Our Edenhall business produces 120 million bricks a year – that’s enough to build 4,800 four bedroomed houses!
4. A Superbrand
We’re a Superbrand celebrating being voted one of the strongest brands in the UK for the 10th consecutive year.
Superbrands are rewarded with the title for their quality, reliability and distinction; helping us remain a Superbrand for the past decade.
5. Open & Transparent
We pride ourselves in being open and transparent about our tax affairs and paying our way.
In 2018 we paid £83.4 million in tax and have held the Fair Tax Mark for the last 5 years. £83.4 million could pay for 17,745 children’s primary school education for a year or for 2,780 NHS heart transplants.
6. Living Wage
Marshalls maintains its Living Wage accreditation which we have had since 2015.
In 2018 we made £267,000 in charitable donations.
In a two-year period we raised £200,000 for MIND and since launching with our new charity MacMillian Cancer Support in March 2019 we have already raised over £30,000.
8. Modern Slavery
We have undertaken detailed modern slavery analysis for 25 of our sourcing countries as part of our Ethical Trading Initiative.
In fact, our Director of Marketing and Sustainability, Chris Harrop OBE received his OBE for all his hard work to prevent modern slavery and exploitation.
Not only are we a FTSE250 company but we are a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series which measures the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices
10. Natural Stone
We are supplying our beautiful natural stone for the Sagrada Familla in Barcelona from our quarry in Howley – Yorkshire’s contribution to Gaudi’s masterpiece!
