More about Mike

Mike Goodwin is Regional Trading Director at Marshalls, bringing more than 30 years' experience across merchanting, commercial landscaping, active travel, street furniture and the wider construction products sector.

Having joined Marshalls following the acquisition of Rhino Protec in 2003, Mike has built a reputation as a trusted leader with deep market knowledge and a passion for developing high-performing teams. Throughout his career, he has worked across multiple areas of the business, including builders' merchants, commercial landscaping and street furniture, giving him a unique understanding of customer needs and the evolving demands of the built environment.

Mike has spent more than a decade in commercial landscaping, where he has played a key role in supporting customers, developing strong industry relationships and helping to deliver projects that enhance communities across the UK. His experience working closely with local authorities, contractors and merchant partners has given him a deep appreciation of the role Marshalls plays in shaping public spaces and creating places where people want to live, work and visit.

A passionate advocate for collaboration across the sector, Mike has worked extensively with local authorities throughout his career, supporting them in delivering projects that improve connectivity, accessibility and community wellbeing. He understands the challenges councils face in balancing ambitious placemaking and infrastructure objectives with increasingly constrained budgets and resources. Through strong partnerships and early engagement, he is committed to helping local authorities identify practical, long-term solutions that deliver value while creating better outcomes for residents and communities.

Mike is also a strong supporter of the work undertaken by the Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG), recognising the vital role it plays in bringing together local authorities, industry partners and innovators to share best practice and drive positive change across the highways and public realm sectors. He believes that collaboration between public and private organisations is essential to unlocking innovation, improving infrastructure delivery and ensuring communities benefit from safer, more sustainable and better-connected places.

Appointed Regional Trading Director in 2025, Mike leads with a collaborative and empowering approach. Passionate about developing people, he is committed to creating opportunities for colleagues to grow, combining the experience of established team members with the fresh thinking and energy of emerging talent. He believes the strongest teams are built on trust, accountability and a shared commitment to delivering for customers.

Mike is particularly motivated by the opportunity to help customers solve complex challenges, deliver successful projects and create lasting value for communities. Looking ahead, his focus is on strengthening customer partnerships, developing future talent and identifying new opportunities to drive sustainable growth across the business.
