Rob Dorrington is the Technical Manager for Marshalls Bricks and Masonry, providing the technical expertise that underpins the performance, compliance and specification of the business's products. Working across six manufacturing sites, he supports customers, colleagues and product teams by ensuring products meet the highest technical standards while helping identify practical opportunities to improve performance, efficiency and value.
Rob's role spans three key areas. He leads on technical compliance, ensuring products meet both Marshalls' internal requirements and relevant British Standards while supporting specification, value engineering and technical design. He also works closely with customers, providing advice on everything from product performance and masonry specifications to sustainability and site best practice, helping them get the best results from Marshalls products. Alongside this, he supports product development, bringing technical expertise to the creation and refinement of new solutions.
Having joined Edenhall in 2013 before becoming part of Marshalls following their acquisition, Rob brings almost 40 years of experience in precast concrete and cast stone. Throughout his career, he has contributed to the development of industry standards, including membership of the steering group responsible for the latest update BS 1217, the British Standard for cast stone. He also continues to support the wider industry through his involvement with the NHBC Standards steering group.
Rob describes himself as having a stubborn attention to detail, believing that technical excellence is achieved by getting the fundamentals right every time. Whether supporting a new product, advising on a specification or contributing to industry standards, his focus is always on giving customers confidence in the long-term performance of the products they choose. Seeing those products become part of the built environment for years to come is what continues to drive his passion for the role.
