Wayne Stonehill

Marshalls Assessor

More about Wayne

Long before joining Marshalls Landscaping as a Marshalls Assessor, Wayne built a career on hard work, high standards and taking pride in a job well done. His journey began when he left school at 16 to join the British Army, spending 11 and a half years serving with the Royal Engineers. The experience shaped the values that still guide him today – discipline, integrity and a commitment to quality.

After leaving the forces, Wayne moved into sales before eventually pursuing a long-held ambition of running his own landscaping business. For 12 years, he worked directly with homeowners, building a successful business and gaining first-hand experience of every aspect of the industry. From planning projects and managing customer expectations to delivering finished installations, he developed a deep understanding of what it takes to create outdoor spaces that truly stand the test of time.

Those years on the tools also gave Wayne a clear view of the challenges facing the industry. Time and again, he would encounter projects where previous work had fallen short, leaving him to rectify poor workmanship and restore customer confidence. Those experiences reinforced a belief that remains central to his approach today: honesty matters, standards matter and cutting corners is never worth it.

Following a period in the aggregates sector, Wayne joined Marshalls Landscaping in a role he had long hoped to take on. Becoming a Marshalls Assessor felt like a natural next step, bringing together the practical knowledge he gained as a landscaper, the people skills developed through sales, and the values instilled during his military career.

What stands out most to Wayne about the Marshalls Accredited Installer scheme is the camaraderie among its members. It is a network of professionals who support one another, share knowledge and work towards raising standards across the industry. The culture reflects many of the values Wayne experienced during his time in the Army, and he is passionate about helping it grow.

Today, Wayne works closely with both existing and prospective Accredited Installers, helping businesses develop while ensuring customers receive the quality installations they expect. Whether he is visiting trusted installers, meeting new businesses or sharing advice gained from years of experience, he is committed to supporting the people behind the projects.

As outdoor spaces continue to play an important role in how people live and enjoy their homes, Wayne believes the role of trusted installers has never been more important. Through his work with Marshalls Landscaping, he is proud to champion quality craftsmanship, professional standards and a community that is committed to doing things the right way.
