We consider the long-term impact of the decisions we make and when we create better spaces, we put people, communities, and the environment first. One of the ways we’re doing this is by reducing our use of plastic.

As a manufacturing company, one of the best ways we can minimise plastic use and waste, is to reduce the amount of packaging used on our products. After months of trials, we’re proud to say that all standard block, kerb and edging ranges manufactured from April 2023 at our Sittingbourne site, are plastic-free. Instead of using plastic, we’re using recyclable straps to package our products which don’t impact on product quality or safety, whether in transport, storage, or installation.

Our plastic packaging reduction programme is just one of the initiatives we have in place as part of our environmental work like installing solar panels and having approved science-based targets, developing EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations) for our products and getting 100% of our electricity from renewable sources.

We’re also the first pre-cast concrete manufacturer in the UK to use CarbonCure technology, a process which locks captured carbon into concrete facing bricks, and we’re developing an innovative solution to remove cement from our precast concrete blocks.
