We're proud to celebrate success at the 2026 Mineral Products Association (MPA) Health & Safety Awards, having been recognised in two award categories that reflect our commitment to developing our people and creating safer workplaces.

Celebrating the Young Leaders Award winner and recognised colleagues

Six Marshalls colleagues were recognised in the Young Leaders Award category, which celebrates individuals who are making a real difference to health and safety. Congratulations to:

  • Owen Bevan, Engineering Technician at our Pollington site, who was named the overall winner of the Young Leaders Award
  • Rhys Scott and Ewan Binnie, Operations Team Managers at our Falkirk site
  • Declan Fielding, SHEQ Compliance Leader at our Maltby and Ranskill sites
  • Lewis Davidson, Electrical Technician at our Glasgow site
  • Jack McNally, Mechanical Technician at our Glasgow site

Rhys, Ewan and Declan attended the awards ceremony to collect their awards, while Owen received the overall Young Leaders Award, an incredible achievement and thoroughly deserved recognition for his commitment to making safety a priority.

Recognising innovation in safer maintenance

We were also delighted to receive a Highly Commended recognition in the Safer Maintenance and Housekeeping category, with our entry being recognised as one of the top five from 28 submissions.

Our entry showcased a new competency training framework built around National Occupational Standards (NOS). The framework has been designed to identify skills gaps in high-risk activities, including hot works and welding, so we can provide structured, site-led training that builds capability, confidence and consistency across our operations.

It's another step forward in helping our teams carry out critical work safely and ensuring everyone has the skills and knowledge they need to do the job with confidence.

A team effort

These awards recognise the commitment and expertise of colleagues across Marshalls, as well as our continued focus on improving health and safety through innovation, training and sharing best practice.

Annabelle Brayford, Head of Safety, Health and Environment at Marshalls, said:

"It's fantastic to see so many of our colleagues recognised at this year's MPA Health & Safety Awards. I'm especially proud of Owen Bevan for winning the Young Leaders Award and of everyone who contributed to our Highly Commended entry in the Safer Maintenance and Housekeeping category.

Health and safety is something we're always looking to improve. Our new National Occupational Standards-based competency framework is a great example of that, helping us identify where training is needed and giving our teams the skills and confidence to carry out high-risk activities safely. These awards are a brilliant reflection of the commitment our people show every day and I'd like to thank everyone involved."
