We’re proud to announce a new Group-wide charity partnership with Building Heroes, supporting programmes that help members of the Armed Forces community into roles across construction and the built environment.

This collaboration supports veterans and service leavers as they transition into civilian life, helping them turn their military skills into recognised qualifications and a strong foundation for future careers. Construction faces a major skills gap and by helping bring skilled people into the industry, we’re also supporting the long-term future of construction.

Skills and community

Our Built for the Future approach brings together everything we do to create a better future for people, places, and the planet. It’s built around three pillars: road to net-zero, skills and community and trust and transparency. Our ‘skills and community’ pillar, focuses on the people side of sustainability, supporting training, developing future talent and working with colleges, charities, and other organisations to help more people build long-term careers in construction.

Our partnership with Building Heroes is a great example of this in action, showing how we contribute to long-term positive impact through our approach to sustainability.

Chris Charles, CEO, Building Heroes Education Foundation, said:

“Every person leaving the military deserves confidence about what comes next. Marshalls’ decision to partner with Building Heroes shows a shared belief that potential should never be lost simply because someone is changing career. Their support helps us give people direction, skills and opportunity at a pivotal moment in life, changing futures for individuals, families and communities. We are grateful for their support and look forward to working together to make a real difference over the coming year.”

Recent Building Heroes graduates include former military engineers, logisticians and technicians who have progressed into roles such as site supervisors, tradespeople and property maintenance operatives following training.

Shiv Sibal, our Chief Legal Officer and Company Secretary said:

“We’re proud to partner with Building Heroes. By supporting service leavers and veterans, we’re helping talented people build skilled, rewarding careers while also helping close the construction skills gap and strengthen the workforce for the future.

Through this partnership, we aim to help create real opportunities for individuals and deliver lasting benefits for our industry. Together, we look forward to making a meaningful difference to people’s lives and the communities in which we operate - building tomorrow’s world together.”
