Our engineering team is the powerhouse behind keeping our machines running smoothly. Our team is dedicated to implementing best practices in asset care and maintenance, driven by the creation of innovative technical solutions. A career in engineering is not just a job, it’s a thrilling adventure where your skills contribute to the evolution of manufacturing processes and the creation of groundbreaking solutions for the Marshalls Group.

What skills do you need?

  • A minimum of four GCSEs, including Maths and English at level 4 / C or above
  • Self-motivated and ready to learn
  • Although experience in manufacturing or engineering is a plus, a strong work ethic and a keen interest in engineering count just as much
  • Able to work on your own and as part of a team
  • Flexibility in relation to working hours as you’ll eventually join a shift pattern

Where you'll be based

Marshalls has manufacturing sites across the UK, and we invest in cutting-edge machinery to continue to produce the UK’s leading Landscaping, Building and Roofing Products.

We’re set to bring in 50 Engineering Apprentices in a four-year period. Your end goal? To become a fully-qualified Maintenance Engineer at one of our UK based manufacturing sites.

You can apply for apprenticeship vacancies at a site near you. Each of our sites is partnered with a local training provider so you’ll need to be able to travel between the two locations. The map shows where we plan to have apprenticeship opportunities over the four year period and you can find a list of advertised roles for each year on our latest vacancies page.

What you'll gain

  • Qualifications: Earn a recognised NVQ level 3 qualification in Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineering (Electrical and Mechanical) while gaining invaluable work experience
  • Problem-solving skills: Develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities essential for success in engineering
  • Team working: Collaborate with a diverse group of individuals, fostering a collaborative spirit that mirrors the real-world engineering environment.
  • A career in Engineering: You’ll be on a permanent contract from day one, giving you job security and a long-term career with a building materials manufacturing industry leader

The recruitment process

Check out our apprenticeship vacancies at https://www.marshalls.co.uk/careers/latest-vacancies. These vacancies are usually open from February for a September start each year.

As part of the process, you can expect to have a screening phone call to discuss the opportunity in more detail and find out your motivation for applying for a career in engineering. Don’t worry, we won’t ask you any trick questions!

For the next stage, you’ll be invited to one of our open days onsite. This will include group activities, one-on-one sessions with members of the engineering team and a site tour so you’ll get a real feel for what it’s like to be an engineer at Marshalls.

Offers are likely to roll out by mid-July, with a kick-off in September. If you’re ready to start paving your career path, these apprenticeships will provide you with the skills, confidence, and qualifications to join the next wave in our industry.
