Emma Crates

Since joining Marshalls in 2022, Emma has been leading on ethical practice in our operations and supply chains.

Working with colleagues and external experts, she assesses and addresses human rights risks both in the UK and abroad, engaging with suppliers to raise awareness and uphold standards.

Prior to joining the business, Emma was a senior policy lead for the Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner, focusing on prevent strategies and business engagement. A former independent journalist and researcher, she has written three reports on construction and ethical supply chains for the Chartered Institute of Building.

Speaking at the United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights in Geneva, on behalf of the UK Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner, November 2019.

Awards

Emma picked up the award for Innovation at the Unseen Business Awards in 2023, on behalf of the Marshalls Business and Human Rights team. Unseen runs the UK Modern Slavery & Exploitation Helpline, provides safehouses and support in the community for survivors of trafficking and modern slavery.
